Needs-Based Strategic Planning for Community Legal Centres |
|
Dr Judith Stubbs presented the Legal Needs and Strategic Planning Model designed and developed by JSA in partnership with Community Legal Centres NSW at the recent 8th LSRC International Research Conference in Cambridge, United Kingdom.
Along with Mr Alastair
McEwin (Director Community Legal Centres NSW), Dr Stubbs
demonstrated how Australian and International legal needs research is being used
to inform and change the methods and focus of service delivery by community
legal centres to better target legal need experienced by disadvantaged
Australians.
In 2009 JSA completed and has since been rolling
out a Legal Needs and Strategic Planning
Project for Community Legal Centres NSW (CLCNSW). The project developed a
model strategic planning process to assist community legal centres to better
meet legal need within their communities through identifying "met" and "unmet"
need through a range of qualitative and quantitative data. To date, JSA has
worked with five community legal centres to implement the model, which is
documented in the Legal Needs Strategic
Planning Toolkit.
The Legal
Needs Assessment Framework developed to inform the process will soon be
rolled out nationally by JSA in partnership with the National Association of
Community Legal Centres (NACLC). More information may be found on the CLCNSW
website here .
