Social & Economic Impact Assessment |
JSA are leading experts in the area of social and economic impact
assessment and evaluation, and have a diverse range of government,
community and private sector clients.
Recent projects include:
- Social and Economic Impact Assessment of a proposed rezoning of
a small-lot rural subdivision near Jervis Bay which was deemed likely to
have significant impacts on threatened species and ecological communities
and Commonwealth land. See the report here. (Large file)

- Social Impact Assessment under Part 3A of the NSW Environmental
Planning & Assessment Act 1979 for the renewal of the Bonnyrigg Public
Housing Estate in southwest Sydney, which contained a detailed and
inter-disciplinary assessment of likely impacts and mitigation strategy. See the SIA here.
JSA is actively involved in providing expert advice in a range of
jurisdictions on social and economic impacts of diverse development
proposals, including the NSW Supreme Court, NSW Land and Environment
Court, and Liquor Administration Board, and have also been involved in
matters in the Victorian Supreme Court and Victorian Administrative

which have further defined the nature of social impact assessment and
relevant methodologies.
Some of these important cases include:
- Toth v Campbelltown City Council [1999], [2000], [2001] and
[2004] NSW LEC contributed to assessment methodology of amenity impacts as
a social planning concern.
