Environmental & Social Planning |

JSA operates within a sustainable development framework to work with
clients to establish the desired direction for future change and the
mechanisms to bring this change about.
We undertake needs based planning and utilise participatory planning
models to engage local communities in Local Environment Plan (LEP)
review processes, housing studies, social plans and settlement
strategies.
- We are currently completing a major study for the Cotton
Catchment Communities Co-Operative Research Centre (CRC) to understand the
complex relationship between cotton growing and community resilience in
the Murray-Darling
Basin in the face of
reduced water availability due to policy and climate change. Social Impact
Assessment and cost benefit analysis will be used to understand impacts at
different geographic scales including the farm, community, Basin and
Nation.
-
We have completed Measuring Community Wellbeing in Cotton Communities,
a study that developed a broad set of quantitative and qualitative
indicators to investigate community wellbeing and measure the long-term
social and economic impacts of the cotton industry on communities in rural
NSW and Queensland
for the Cotton Catchment Communities Co-Operative Research Centre (CRC).
